Après 3 ans de standby les projets d' éolien terrestres vont reprendre en Espagne avec 3 GW de projets. Et avec seulement €43/MWh de prix garanti

Spain returns to wind energy with record low prices

May 19, 2017 evwind

Wind energy was awarded nearly all of the 3GW available in the Spanish renewable energy auction whose results were announced on 17 May.

The auction resulted in contracts for €43/MWh, the maximum discount rate allowed under the Spanish tendering system. This is the lowest level ever awarded in an onshore wind tender in Europe.

The competitiveness of wind energy is a key factor. So is the fact that the Spanish market has been paralysed for 3 years and has a large number of mature projects that need the promise of stable revenues to complete their financing.

Giles Dickson, CEO WindEurope said: “The tender results show how onshore wind is today the cheapest option for new power generation. Some may think wind energy no longer needs subsidies. But it was the fact the auction offered a guaranteed minimum income that attracted investors and ensured there were enough bids to deliver the low price. And this is the point – it’s not subsidies but revenue stabilisation mechanisms, addressing the risk of wholesale price volatility, that will be critical to the deployment of onshore wind across Europe at competitive costs. By offering revenue stability, auctions play a crucial role in enabling investors to finance a project – they’re key to making projects happen.”

The industry welcomes the results of the Spanish auction as a positive development. It comes after a 3-year market standstill triggered by retroactive cuts to the Spanish feed-in tariff in 2013. The paralysis has put at risk the prospect of Spain complying with its 2020 EU renewable energy target. Spain now needs to deploy additional megawatts if it is to meet its EU commitments.

Europe adds 6.1 GW of wind energy capacity in first half of 2017

July 27, 2017 evind

6.1 GW of extra wind energy capacity was installed in Europe in the first half of 2017, according to figures released today by WindEurope. The figure puts Europe on course for a bumper year for installations, although hides some worrying trends.

A total of 4.8 GW of onshore wind capacity was installed in the first half of 2017, although it was heavily concentrated in Germany (2.2 GW), UK (1.2 GW) and France (492 MW). There has also been a flurry of activity in offshore wind: 18 projects in four EU Member States (Germany, UK, Belgium and Finland), which saw a total of 1.3 GW installed.

In investments, €8.3bn on new asset financing was made in the first half of the year: €5.4bn in onshore and €2.9bn in offshore, the latter down from a record high of €14bn in the same period in 2016. Again, the trend for market concentration was visible, with 53% of total investments (onshore and offshore) made in Germany and no offshore investments made in the UK.

U.S. wind industry reported 25,819 megawatts (MW) of wind capacity under construction

July 30, 2017 evwind

We know that U.S. wind power posted impressive numbers in 2016. But how is 2017 shaping up?

The second quarter results are in and the outlook is strong. AWEA just released its U.S. Wind Industry Second Quarter 2017 Market Report, and it shows development activity up 40 percent over the same time last year. Notably, heartland states like Kansas continue to headline project investment.

Here’s what you need to know from this quarter’s report.

The U.S. wind industry reported 25,819 megawatts (MW) of wind capacity under construction or in advanced development during the second quarter, a 41 percent increase over this time last year. That includes a combined 3,841 MW in new announcements. And nearly 80 percent of that activity is found in the Midwest, Texas and the Mountain West, as our richest wind resources draw even more investment and jobs to communities in rural America. Considering the U.S. currently has a total of more than 84,000 MW of installed capacity (enough to power 25 million homes), a development pipeline nearing 26,000 MW is a big deal.

Kansas just became the fifth state to surpass 5,000 MW of installed capacity, with enough wind power to supply 1.5 million average homes. Kansas wind supports nearly 6,000 in-state jobs and makes lease payments up to $15 million a year to its farmers and ranchers for hosting turbines.

Ils vont pouvoir annoncer les 100 GW installés en fin d' année ........
